The Rosebud Sioux Rural Water System, or Sicangu Mni Wiconi, provides high quality water to the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. The system consists of multiple sources of supply, both surface and groundwater, numerous pump stations and water storage tanks, and over 400 miles of pipelines greater than three-inch in diameter.
DOWL completed a Needs Assessment for the Tribe and provided planning, design, and construction administration services. The work included design and rights-of-way survey and assistance in permitting, as well as helping the Tribe develop tribal construction capabilities. DOWL approached this $90 million dollar project with the commitment to build human resources as well as infrastructure. DOWL also provided training in GIS, construction administration, and inspection in order to help build the local economy.
