Foothill Road
The existing segment of Foothill Road between Delta Waters Road and Dry Creek Road in Jackson County was a two-lane rural paved roadway with steep grades, roadside ditches, and sharp corners with limited sight distance. The project improved the substandard alignment, widened the shoulders, and added left-turn lanes to improve safety of the traveling public. DOWL designed stormwater management improvements including three bioretention ponds. DOWL also designed a 72-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culvert as a replacement for an existing 60-inch CMP culvert on Swanson Creek beneath Foothill Road and within the Federal Emergency Management Agency floodplain. The increase in culvert size and capacity allowed for the 100-year flows to be contained in the culvert, cause no rise, and eliminate existing roadway overtopping.
