Susitna-Watana Dam

The Alaska Energy Authority awarded DOWL one of its term contracts to provide environmental project support related to the analysis and development of large hydroelectric projects for the rail belt. This contract has been used primarily to support the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licensing process for the Susitna-Watana Dam, approximately 90 miles north of Talkeetna, Alaska. To date, the scope of work awarded to DOWL under this contract includes development of study plans in support of the FERC integrated licensing process and implementation of studies for analysis of socioeconomic impacts, air quality, transportation studies, and fisheries surveys.

DOWL is assisting the Alaska Energy Authority by establishing and maintaining a Board of Consultants and Advisors for the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric project in accordance with the FERC requirements. The primary scope of work under this contract is to provide the Alaska Energy Authority with world class experts who provide a peer review throughout the planning, design, solicitation, and construction of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric project.
