Norton Sound Regional Hospital

Residents of the Bering Straight region in Alaska live about 500 miles north of Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage. They have no road connection outside of their region and are their own first responders and caregivers. Their hospital was woefully undersized and out-of-date for the 10,000-person region. It could not often accommodate the long-term care and other surgical needs of the area. The Norton Sound Health Corporation identified the need and, in conjunction with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, hired DOWL to provide project management and related services on the project. DOWL and its consultants and contractors delivered the $168 million project on time and within budget. The 150,000-square foot hospital is now open for business serving the residents of the area.
