The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) have identified a strong need to improve safety and traffic operations along the Seward Highway between Bird and Indian, from milepost (MP) 99 to MP 105. This segment, last reconstructed in 1983, consists of two 12-foot lanes and eight-foot shoulders, with a posted speed of 55 MPH. The primary purpose of this project is to enhance safety for drivers and other roadway users. DOT&PF has contracted with DOWL Engineers to prepare preliminary engineering and environmental documentation. |
